Mondays Post Vacation|| Local ATL Business Pt. 4

Happy Monday friends! We are finally home from vacation and I cant believe how quickly it has passed. One minute we were packing and the next minute we were on our flight home. We had an amazing time hiking, swimming, kayaking, and site seeing. It’s amazing what 10 days away with your best friends can do. We drove over 3000 miles and had the most amazing road trip. I of course also ended up twisting my ankle haha. Luckily it was at the end of our trip and didn't really change any of our plans. Stay tuned for that blog post coming up.

In the past few weeks I have been sharing local Atlanta businesses. This is such a fun way for my readers to learn more about local businesses and support local as well. Today’s local business is one that my husband and I found extremely interesting and unique. It was something I didnt realize was so important and is such a part of our daily lives. Criterion Technology, INC is the industry leader of the highest quality clear component parts molded from polycarbonate, acrylic, and an exclusive optical grade nylon. They are located in Thomaston, Georgia and is about 1 hours south of ATL.

Looking through Criterion website, you can learn so much about the company. They serve three major industries and they are CCTV, LiDAR, and Subsea Systems. I had to check them all out and they exactly what they are about. The one that caught my attention the most was LiDAR. LiDAR which stands for Light Detection and Ranging, is a remote sensing method that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure ranges. That is what detects when cars are getting close to you in the newer cars as well as the new self driving vehicles. I was always curious how these cars could detect other vehicles nearby and now it all makes sense.

One thing we wish we had during a long road trip like this is a self- driving car. Imagine driving over 3000 miles and having a car that can do all the driving for you? That is all we talked about on our trip. We spent so many hours driving and switching between drivers. You know how road trips can be. You get tired of being behind the wheel and try to stay entertained with music and podcast but at some point, it gets boring and tiring.

Another major thing that Criterion is known for is injection molding. What is injection molding? Injection molding is a high-precision manufacturing process that injects molten plastic into a carefully designed mold, where the plastic cools and hardens into the specified part or product. Injection molding in the USA is important in order to keep jobs here in our own country instead outsourcing everything. They have been in this business for over 20 years.

I hope you guys are enjoying these local business post. It’s always great to support your local businesses. I know it’s easy to order from major retailers but these small business are the what brings the economy together. I always try to shop local whenever I can. This is doesn’t mean you wont catch me shopping at the big spots like amazon or Target whenever I need something right away but you will also see me buying from local shops as well.

Now it’s time to get back into the swing of life and also heal this foot. I can’t wait to get better and get back to Orangetheory and back to hiking. It’s also time to start planning trips for the rest of the year. Fall is coming and I cant wait to plan some fun things. We already have one trip for October and I cant wait to start planning that. Let me know if you are taking any trips this fall. Have a great week friends!
