Weekend Declutterting || Local Atlanta Business

What a weekend!

It was the first weekend at home in a while so we spent Saturday cleaning and heading to a local brewery. We have been in Georgia almost 9 months and we still have SO MUCH to see. We needed a good weekend home to get all chores done. Dan headed to work on Sunday so I spent the day DECLUTTERING and tossing over 150 clothing items! My husband and I are in major need to get rid of alot of junk that we’ve been holding onto. So I spent all of yesterday going through our closets and picking things out that we no longer used.

Our lease is up in October and we are moving into a much smaller space ( waaaaay smaller). It is going to require us to downsize our life and get rid of all the extra junk. We both have a ton of clothes and Dan has so many tools. For me to get rid of things it’s really hard just because I feel like I’m so emotionally attached to certain things but the time has come.

Some of the things that I am getting rid of are:

Clothing- The biggest struggle for me is to get rid of my clothes. Even clothes that I haven’t worn in five years I still hold onto for some reason. So it was about time that I did a major closet clean out and got rid of things that I have not worn in the last year. And honestly it’s a lot and I’m embarrassed to say but for some pieces of clothing I held onto for the memories haha. Anyone else feel this way?

Purses- another major thing that I seem to hold onto. I still have my first Michael Kors purse from high school that I haven’t used since the 10th grade. I tossed about seven bags today that I honestly haven’t used in like five years. I usually rotate between three bags lately so it was time to finally toss the ones I haven’t used in over a year.

Jewelry- does anyone else hold onto jewelry because of who gave it to you? I have some gorgeous necklaces, earrings, bracelet, rings that were given to me by family members that I honestly have not worn in years. Some are definitely worth money others aren’t.

That is why when I came across Chapes JPL in the Buckhead area in Atlanta, I knew I could bring my unique pieces of jewelry to them. Not only could I declutter but I could also make some money from my gold and silver jewelry. They have been in the business for over 38 years and make honest offers. You can always count on a company that has been in business for years and truly understands what they are doing. They are also willing to take not only pieces in good shape but also any broken jewelry you may have.

I know we all have some broken bracelets and necklaces that we haven’t worn that have been laying around. They buy gold jewelry, gold bullion, gold coins, scrap gold, platinum jewelry, engagement rings, diamond jewelry, and of course buys Rolex watches in Atlanta. Why toss the good stuff when you make some cash from it?!

So as you can see it has been a super productive weekend. It felt so nice to actually be home and be able to sleep in a tad and get things done. We are in a total purging mood around here. Our families always say they don’t understand how two people can accumulate so much in one year of living together haha. Honestly it feels good to toss the old stuff out. Let’s just say 2021 is a year where we become semi- minimalist! Is that even a thing? The less stuff the better but boy is it a learning process. Learning to let go of the things that we no longer need.

Hope you enjoyed this post. You all know I love supporting local businesses especially after a tough year we all had in 2020. Hope you all have a great week!
