Our Covid-19 Wedding Day

We FINALLY did it!! We got married!!! For those who have been following our journey, our big wedding was supposed to happen on April 25th at our dream venue. With everything going on in the world, we decided to to postpone our wedding to July 11th (for now). Things are still so unknown right now so who knows if this wedding will even happen this year We went back and forth whether or not we should still married on our original date and in the end we decided to get married.

Let me begin by saying that even though this wasn’t what we had planned, this was truly a special ceremony. I tried to stay close to the original plan as possible. From spending the night of the wedding apart to having breakfast with my family in the morning before. I slept at my families house on Friday night and had a bridal breakfast on Saturday morning. Followed by setting everything up and getting ready.

Our pastor arrived and so did my hubby and his family. I stayed in my sisters room getting ready and just taking in every moment of that day. It wasnt the exact morning that I had envisioned but it was super special because it was just my mom, sisters and grandma together. Meanwhile my step dad kept telling me he had a special surprise for me before I walked down aisle. For any new readers who may not know, my dad lives in Florida and because of everything going on, his flight was cancelled and of course i didn’t expect him to drive here for a 20 min ceremony! When everyone was set up in the backyard, my family took me to the front of the house where my dad and his wife surprised me. *cue the TEARS* or sobs because I sobbed my eyes out. I mean he drove over 18 hours to just walk me down the aisle. Can we say best dad ever?!?!

We had our families there (just moms, dads, and siblings) with our bridal party and close friends on a zoom call. We walked down the aisle a few minutes later and it was the most beautiful ceremony. We had our close and talented friends sing for us on zoom. It was intimate and just full of so many emotions. Our vows were so beautiful and we both cried so much. I mean I love him so much and in that moment my love grew even more and i honestly can’t explain it. We said I do and we finally became Mr and Mrs De Oliveira.

To our surprise our closest friends did a drive by celebration. They had signs and paper airplanes that they threw to us once they drove by (my husband is a pilot and we love traveling). My roomie even brought her own celebratory toast with her husband. It was so so beautiful. The excitement in our family and friends made the day even better because we were surrounded by people who truly loved us and have always cheered us on. Afterwords we celebrated with catered chipotle and chick fil, which if you know us as a couple, you know that those are our favorite places. We had amazing desserts and our beautiful wedding cake.

It was honestly amazing and beautiful. It was not what we had imagined our wedding day to look like but in all honestly it was better. The intimacy and raw emotions was so beautiful. My dads surprise and the love our family and friends from afar had was amazing. Yes, our wedding day was far from what we thought it was going to be. Yes I was bummed that I didn’t get to celebrate my bachelorette like every bride out there. Yes I was sad I didn’t get to wear my actual wedding dress and yes I was sad that I didn’t get to celebrate with all of our 170 guest. BUT the most important part was that I got to marry the love of my life and we had our closest family and friends watching. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters and it was honestly such a special day.

We will celebrate with our family’s and friend on our new date and it will be a party to remember. Until than, wish us luck on our new journey as husband and wife ❤️
