6 Self Care Habits I Practice
I recently saw an Instagram post about what self care really is. It made me question what I did in order to have self care for myself but it also made me question what self care is to others. Self care is when we do an activity in order to take care of our mental, emotional, physical health. Everyone does self care differently. Whether its getting a mani/pedi or talking to a therapist, there is no right or wrong way. So what are we doing on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to accomplish self care? I've complied a list of things I do that help with my emotional, mental, and physical health.
I am a major book worm and love being able to get lost within the pages of a good book. It's a time that I give myself to enjoy a good story whether it's before bed or any free time I get during the day.
Early Bed Time/ Sleeping In
For those who don't know me, I am in bed everyday by 10:30. Getting a good nights rest is so good for your mental, physical, and emotional health! I also love being able to sleep in on the weekends. Push your Saturday adventures for a later time and give your body some extra time to sleep!
This helps me keep my health on track and also helps with stress and anxiety! There is nothing like a good sweat to clear your mind.
I love being able to shop for myself and buy things that make me happy. I love putting on makeup, doing my hair, and wearing my best clothing for a night out. Some people disagree but dressing up and looking your best is so good for your self-esteem!
I love writing as a way to clear my mind and express myself. I find it theraputical to write what I am feeling! I also feel that writing is the best way I have always expressed myself.
I don't know about you but treating myself to a sweet treat is so satisfying. After a crazy week of work, crazy workouts, and meal prepping there is nothing wrong with treating yourself with a slice of cake, cookies, or ice cream! Rewarding yourself with a sweet treat is always a good idea!
Why is self care important? Because we all need “me” time during this crazy thing we call life. Whether it’s going for a walk after work to destress or having a glass of wine after a long day, these things are needed for our mental health. Some people run to clear their minds and some journal their thoughts. It is important to find clarity & an escape from our crazy schedules. What are some of the ways you accomplish self care?
